How to Connect a Facebook Scheduling Profile

To connect a Facebook Page to Ordinal, we'll need to authenticate through a personal Facebook profile that has the admin role on the Page you're looking to connect.

  1. Click the Connect a Profile button under the Scheduling Profiles section and click on Facebook as the channel you'd like to connect

  2. Click the Connect Facebook button. A pop-up window from Facebook will appear.

  3. Log in to the Facebook account that has administrative access to the Page you wish to connect.

  4. Follow the prompts in the pop-up window, making sure to grant all requested permissions. This is essential for the connection to function correctly.

  5. Once authorized, you will see a list of Facebook Pages associated with your account. Select the Page you want to connect.

Account Types and Required Permissions

Understanding the type of profile you're connecting and the permissions required can help ensure a smooth setup.

Required Permissions

To successfully connect a Facebook Page, you must be an Admin of that Page.

During the connection process, Ordinal will request several permissions from Facebook. It is crucial to approve all of them for the integration to work as expected. These permissions allow Ordinal to:

  • View your email address and public profile.

  • Access the list of Facebook Pages you manage.

  • Publish posts, Reels, and other content to your Page.

  • Read and manage engagement, such as comments on your posts.

  • Access analytics and insights for your Page and posts.

If certain permissions are not granted, features such as auto-comments may not function correctly.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Encountering an issue? Here are some common problems and how to resolve them.

Can I connect personal Facebook profiles for scheduling?

No, with Ordinal you can only schedule content to Facebook Pages, not personal profiles. You can connect the Facebook Page by using the login of a personal Facecbook account with admin access to the Page you're looking to connect.

No Facebook Pages Found

If you've logged into Facebook but don't see any Pages to connect, it's usually for one of these reasons:

  • You're logged into the wrong Facebook account. Make sure you are logged into the Facebook profile that has admin access to your Page.

  • You don't have admin access. You must be an Admin of a Facebook Page to connect it.

  • You don't have a Facebook Page. A Facebook Page is required to connect to Ordinal; personal profiles cannot be connected for scheduling.

Connection Error or Failure

If you receive an error message stating "User cancelled login or did not fully authorize," it means the connection process was interrupted or not all permissions were granted.

Try connecting the account again. When the Facebook pop-up appears, carefully review each step and ensure you click "Allow" or "Continue" for all requested permissions.

Reconnecting Your Profile

If your Facebook connection requires a refresh (for example, if your password changed or permissions expired), a Reconnect button will appear next to the profile in your Social Profiles list. Clicking this will guide you through the same authorization process to securely re-establish the connection.
