You can connect your LinkedIn profiles from the Social Profiles page here.

Note: You must be an admin or owner to connect a LinkedIn Company Page. Both personal LinkedIn profiles and Company Pages are supported. See the Permissions section below for more info.

How to Connect a LinkedIn Engagement Profile

Note: Engagement-only profiles are used for likes, comments, and reposts only. They do not come with scheduling or analytics capabilities and are only available on Pro plans and above. Learn more here.

Connecting a LinkedIn Engagement-Only Profile follows a very similar process:

  1. Click the Connect a Profile button under the Engagement-Only Profiles section

  2. Click on LinkedIn as the channel you'd like to connect

  3. Follow the instructions from Linkedin.com to authorize your account. You'll then be redirected back to Ordinal.

  4. Select the profile you'd like to connect to Ordinal and confirm. You will be asked to select which actions (Like, Comment, Repost) you want to permit for auto-engagements. You must select at least one.

Account Types and Required Permissions

Scheduling vs. Engagement Profiles

You can connect two types of LinkedIn profiles to Ordinal, each with different capabilities.

Capabilities

Scheduling Profiles

Schedule posts, auto-engagements, analytics.

Engagement-Only Profiles

Can only be used for auto-engagements. You can customize which permissions to grant for your profile (like, comment, and/or reposts)

Permissions Needed on LinkedIn

To ensure a smooth connection and access to all features, you'll need the right permissions on LinkedIn.

  • In order to connect a Company Profile you must be either a Super Admin or Content Admin

  • In order to connect a Personal Profile you must be the account owner (or have their credentials) to authorize with LinkedIn.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Running into an issue? Here are some solutions to common problems you might encounter.

Why isn’t my LinkedIn profile or Company Page showing when I try to connect?

A Company LinkedIn Page will only appear if you have Super Admin or Content Admin access - Analysts and Viewers can’t connect Pages.

If your personal profile isn’t showing, you’re likely logged into the wrong LinkedIn account. Log out of LinkedIn, sign back in with the correct profile, and try again.

If a profile or Page is already connected to your workspace, it will appear grayed out.

How do I connect a different LinkedIn profile?

If Ordinal keeps trying to connect the wrong LinkedIn account, you'll need to log out of LinkedIn first.

  1. Go to linkedin.com in a separate browser tab and log out of the currently active account.

  2. Log in to the correct LinkedIn profile you wish to connect.

  3. Return to Ordinal and click the "Connect LinkedIn" button again.

"Authorization code expired"

This message means the connection process took too long and timed out. No worries, simply go back and try connecting the profile again.

"Connection was revoked" or "Session has expired"

If you see a message about your connection being revoked or expired, it means the authorization between Ordinal and LinkedIn has been interrupted.

Go to the Social Profiles page and click the Reconnect button next to the affected LinkedIn profile. This will re-establish a secure connection.

My analytics are missing impressions data.

Sometimes, LinkedIn updates its permissions. If you're not seeing impressions data, it's likely because Ordinal needs updated permission to access it.

Reconnecting your profile will prompt you to accept the latest permissions and should restore your access to impressions data.
